Breast Pumps are widely used by lactating mothers to extract breast milk so that it can be stored for later consumption by their child. There are many different types and brands of pumps, and using one of these machines is completely up to the mother.

Why would you need a breast pump? There are numerous reasons why a mother would choose to extract the milk, one of which is that she is over producing it. When you over produce milk, it becomes very heavy and can be extremely painful. To reduce the pain, a breast pump is used to extract the extra milk. Sometimes, a doctor would recommend a new mother to use the pump as there may have been complications.

Other women prefer to use a breast pump so that they wouldn’t need to breast feed. Instead, they pump the milk out and bottle feed it to their child. As you can see, there are many varying reasons for using one of these, and it is completely an individual choice or need.

There are two main types of pumps available, manual ones and electrical pumps. Manual pumps are hand operated where you have to manually pump the lever to extract the milk. This is very energy consuming but is one of the cheapest options.

An electrical pump is easier to use as it requires no effort on your part. It has an open collection system which allows greater air flow or suction which can be very effective and efficient. Electrical pumps are better to use because these are able to adjust to the various breast shapes, sizes and elasticity which can improve your comfort level.

We have many different types of breast pumps available in both types and invite you to look through our collection to find one that would best adapt to your needs and body.
